In Loving Memory of

Jerry Davies

Jerry Davies was a remarkable man whose passion, talent and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. As Global Food and Beverage Director for SSP Group, Jerry’s unparalleled love for food was deeply inspiring and evident in every aspect of his work.

He honed his craft in Michelin-starred restaurants, prestigious hotels and SSP establishments across the globe, consistently raising the bar and setting new standards for the industry. Wherever he went, Jerry added value with his keen eye for detail, unmatched culinary expertise and extraordinary ability to connect with people.

More recently he started to drive the sustainability agenda and crafted new recipes to reduce carbon emissions whilst improving the customer proposition. Throughout his tenure, Jerry remained humble, always attributing his success to the great people around him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry was a cherished friend, mentor, and confidant to countless people. His warmth, humour, and talent for forging meaningful connections made him truly one of a kind.

As we come together to remember Jerry, we celebrate his incredible life and enduring legacy. His passion for hospitality, his ability to bring people together and his unwavering kindness will forever live on in our hearts and memories. Please leave a message in this condolence book to honour Jerry and the extraordinary impact he had on all of us.

Jerry, we didn’t know each other long…in fact only had about two or three interactions. What struck me was your passion for our people across the world and your openness, willingness to advocate on their behalf and share your views to help me understand more depth of our business. Your impact was far reaching on our organisation and industry. As I travelled across our countries these last two months, all the kitchen teams spoke so fondly and highly of you. What a legacy. My heart goes out to all who loved you. …

I’ll miss you Jerry – Although we didn’t work directly together, you would always come over to me and my team to say hello, crack a few jokes, as well as needing IT help. I was just talking about you the other day, before i found out the devastating news. The office won’t be the same without you. …

There are some people you get to meet throughout life who just make your day better. Jerry was one such person. Whilst i only had the pleasure to know him for a realtively short period time, we had many shared values and i’ll miss the train journeys home when we would put the world to right. Jeanette, Holly and Owen, whilst i am sure this is a difficult time for you i hope you can take solace from what Jerry meant to others. I am proud and honourd to have known Jerry and call him my friend….

Dear Jerry. You will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends. We worked together for more than a decade, and sourced products, amended recipes, navigated our way through I20 and delivered and delivered. I may have been a grump, but Jerry always did it with a smile 🙂  Jerry was not just a work colleague, but he was also a highly experienced chef, with a real commercial brain. Jerry always looked for a solution to a challenge and was not just a rock in the foundations of creating value in SSP, he also delivered it in style.  Jerry was a great friend, colleague and raconteur. We shared many a fond and funny story, and he even got me off the beer and onto G&T. He continued to be positive, and his positivity was a great source of support. Jerry was great in many ways – husband, father, and colleague, and he will always be remembered as a legend in SSP. God bless…

Jerry’s family,  “Chef” was a source of knowledge, ideas and energy that impacted on all who worked with him.  I saw Jerry in his pomp, helping the Rail Gourmet team to deliver 100’s of dishes for a Eurostar tender, the brief from the client- here’s some recipe books from a well know chef we use, create and inspire us…… Jerry and the RG team did exactly that with some incredible dishes, a full blown pitch and a sense of humour mixed with humility when we were presenting to the client. Jerry always pushed others forward and his greatest strength was to pass on his knowledge and inspiration to those who he worked with.  Hope fully memories of Jerry doing what he loved with people who loved working with him will in some way ease the loss.  A…

Dearest you, Chef Jerry. My first mentor. First real head chef. I was Twenty…something when I arrived in London. To work. For you. And with you. This was my first real job as a chef. And what a time it was. Those years. Now. Almost 30 years later. I still think about the things I learned from you. And I Will always keep that close in my heart. You were a great chef. And a lovely person. I Will always keep a special place in my heart for you.   Until we meet again.   Love, Sandra  …

Jerry was a true champion in all that he did and how he approached life, always with a smile, witty humour,  ready help and taking time to talk to people – a highly talented creative chef with a passion for all things food. He was proud of his family and has been an invaluable role model colleague over the last 9 years. We will miss Jerry and will fondly remember him. Thinking about Jeanette, Holly and Owen as this difficult time….

My team and I had the pleasure of meeting Jerry when an SSP event was held at our hotel and like everybody else, we were blown away by his vast knowledge and expertise and more importantly, his overall humility, kindness and great sense of humour. Jerry, thank you for all the memories and for the invaluable wisdom, and support you gave me over the past couple of years. Though I never told you, I fondly nicknamed you “Legend” because that’s exactly what you were. You guided, encouraged, and uplifted so many of us—far more than you probably ever knew. You were a master of your craft and so it was incredibly heartening to see you finally receive the recognition you deserved late last year. I will deeply miss looking over my desk and seeing your smile, beaming from ear to ear, and just hearing you say the word “marvellous” once more. Rest in peace, legend. It was truly a privilege! You will continue to inspire us all!…

Jerry was a ray of sunshine and will be missed by anyone who knew him!  I have had the pleasure of knowing Jerry since the 5th January 2015 on the day he joined SSP and have so many happy memories of our team events.  I don’t think I will ever believe our Jerry has gone and my heart goes out to Jeanette, Owen and Holly who Jerry talked about so much and loved to the moon and back. I often text Jerry for cooking advise as really am a terrible cook and knew he would always know the answer to my cooking disasters and told me ‘kindly’ where I had gone wrong 🙂  He was fun, cheeky and could brighten a room where ever he went.  Jerry you have been taken far too early but we will all remember what a wonderful and talented Chef that you were.  Rest in Peace Jerry X…

I only had the pleasure of knowing Jerry for a short time however he made a remarkable impression on me. Always jovial, with a beaming smile that was contagious. Jerrys’ knowledge in his much loved world of food and culinary was exceptional and admirable. What was most heartwarming was Jerrys’ adoration for Jeanette and love for Holly and Owen. One could always see this love and pride in the way Jerry spoke of his family. Jerry will be greatly missed. Haere ra, Moe Mai ra. Farewell and Rest in Peace. …
