In Memory of

Jan Docker

We tragically lost our dear colleague, Jan Docker, over the Christmas period to Covid-19.

Jan joined us in September 2019 as our Interim Inclusion Lead and became a well-liked and respected member of our team straight away.  She worked tirelessly, and with the best interests of all the children in her heart at all times to ensure they achieved their best.  She will be greatly missed by everyone at Stillness Junior School and leaves a hole in all of our hearts.

Dearest Jan,  I still can’t believe I am having to write this! My work buddy and right-hand lady. We were a great team and worked well together. I really appreciate all your hard work, your kind nature and the hysterical laughs we would have about random things that would cause us to nearly cry with laughter, our walks for lunch to the cafe,  our Whatsapp voice notes and messages. You supported me and attended my book launch and used to tell me how proud you were with me. I have many memories that will remain with me forever. My prayers and thoughts go out to your family. Sleep well. Patrice x  …

I was so sorry to hear that sweet Jan had died; it all feels so surreal. Jan was a very kind and generous person, who worked extremely hard to get the best for children. I’ll miss our chats and the cakes she would bake for all staff. Wishing Jan’s family and friends comfort and peace in the days ahead xx…

Jan I will never forget our lunchtime chats where we would talk about my cats and you would give me advice. It was always nice knowing I had another fury friend lover in school. You will truly be missed around the school and you will never be forgotten. Thank you for all the work you did with the children. …

Jan-it was a pleasure working with you. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the children at Stillness Junior School. You were so knowledgeable on Inclusion and always gave insightful and important feedback on what the children needed in order for them to achieve their very best. I will always remember our staffroom lunchtime chats and positive feedback you would always give me when you would do your Inclusion learning walks. As a school, we will always endure the memories shared. Jan-you will be truly missed! Rest in Peace x…

Dear Jans’ family and friends, I send my deepest condolences to you at this time.  I was extremely sad to hear of Jans’ passing over the Xmas period, as it felt so strange to think it was a few weeks earlier that we were having a conversation about the fact it was her birthday, she shared her age, we shared a joke, and then Jan explained, what she had planned for that evening.    My condolences once again.  May her smile, laughter and joy remain in our hearts.  …

Dear Jan – I will always remember fondly our chats at the lunch table and how we exchanged funny stories about our respective furry friends and their silly quirks. I could always rely on you for non work related conversation at lunchtime. Thank you for your help, sense of humour and company. …

Jan’s family are in our thoughts at this sad time. Jan worked hard to ensure children transferred smoothly from the Infants to the Juniors and her care for the children and families shone through. She baked us cakes and brought them, still warm, across the playground. She always had time to stop and chat, bringing happiness with her smile….

Hi Jan  – thank you for all that you have done during the time you were at Stillness.  You have shown us new and different ways of how to support children which we will continue to use. I will also miss your presence and knowledge at our weekly leadership meetings.   Take care – Mitzi x …

Dearest Jan – I am going to miss you, can still hear you laughing as Mrs N and I wrestled to use the microwave just before Christmas!  Thank you for baking us cakes to have with our cuppa during the lock-down periods and as always thinking of others first.  Will miss our lunch time catch ups – take care.  Kim x x x…

My dear friend Jan, or Work Wife as you always called me, I’ll miss our chats and giggles. Our room is very quiet (and much tidier!) without you. You taught me so much about inclusion and I promise I will keep working my hardest for all of the children on your list and will always try to work according to your values for inclusion. It was an honour to know you, work with you and count you as a friend. I’ll always miss you. Zoe xx…
