Prosper Chaki leaves us a legacy that goes far beyond science. He was a living inspiration through his intellectual rigour and his generous service. The PAMCA family will never be the same without his presence: his vision, his wisdom and the rare humanity that so deeply marked us will be forever missed. His absence is profoundly painful, but his example lives on in the ideas he planted and in the lives he touched. To his family, friends and all those who shared his journey, I extend my sincerest condolences and solidarity at this time of sorrow. May his memory continue to guide and inspire us….

It was indeed a great privilege and honour to work under the leadership of Dr Prosper Chaki, he was an honourable and kind man. He led with patience, quiet strength and a vision that lifted everyone around him. His kindness was not loud but it was steady, and it left its mark on many lives. For that, he will be remembered with gratitude and respect. I know Heaven receives him, having known his work was done with integrity and care, knowing he was the kindest and most thoughtful leader. Matthew 25:21 My heartfelt condolences go to his family, loved ones, and all who walked alongside him. May you find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind and strength in the many lives he touched. Psalm 34:18  …

Prosper was a true friend, a true leader, and a personal model to me. We have lost not only an exceptional professional but a good friend and a big brother, someone who always cared more about others than about himself. Prosper led with humility, vision, and quiet strength. His life and work were driven by a deep belief in people, teamwork, and African leadership in solving African challenges. Through his dedication to the Pan-African Mosquito Control Association, he gave his energy, his intellect, and his heart to the dream of an Africa free of vector-borne diseases. The greatest tribute we can pay him is not only in words, but in action: reviving and strengthening the organization he loved, and fulfilling his vision through the work and leadership of Africa’s own sons and daughters. Prosper, your legacy lives on in us. May your soul rest in eternal peace….

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my mentor and colleague, Dr. Prosper Chaki. I met Propser in 2019 at the launch of the African Center of Excellence in Biotechnologies for the Control of Vector-Borne Diseases in Burkina Faso.  He was a visionary leader whose dedication to vector control profoundly transformed public health across Africa. To me, Dr. Chaki was more than a scientist; he was a guide whose humility and intellectual leadership inspired everyone privileged to work with him. His commitment to mentoring the next generation leaves an indelible mark on our community. We honor his legacy of excellence and his tireless work toward “An Africa free of vector-borne diseases”. Rest in peace, Dr. Chaki. Your influence lives on in our continued mission….

GONE TOO SOON, YET NEVER GONE Prosper was a man of great vision, courage, and deep compassion for Africa and its children. He saw beyond the present pain and dedicated his life to a future where no child would suffer or die from malaria. His work was not just a profession; it was a calling, driven by purpose, hope, and unshakable belief that Africa deserves better.  Though this time with us was far too short, the impact of his life is enduring. The lives he touched, the systems he strengthened, and the hope he ignited will continue to speak long after his passing. We mourn the loss of a leader, a servant, and a champion for the vulnerable, but we celebrate a legacy that lives on in every child saved, every life uplifted, every dream inspired. Rest in peace, Prosper. Your spirit lives on in the cause you so passionately served, and your vision will continue to guide us forward.   …

Prosper was a friend, a colleague, and a mentor in the truest sense. The kind who listened more than he spoke, who lifted others without seeking recognition, and who led with a quiet strength that inspired everyone around him. He was a true son of Africa. Humble and grounded, he understood the communities he served because he was one of them. He didn’t just talk about mentoring the next generation, he lived it. The networks he built, the young scientists he nurtured, the collaborations he fostered… these will continue to bear fruit long after today. That is the mark of a life well lived. We have lost him too soon, but we have been blessed to have known him at all. Until that bright morning…Lala salama, Daktari. You have run your race with grace 🕊️…

Prof. Chaki and Dr. Issa Lyimo were supposed to teach us the “Infectious and Non-Infectious Diseases” module. However, Prof. Chaki was busy so Dr. Issa taught the class alone. One day, we visited the IHI Dar office, and Dada Cecy (Training Department Administrator) pointed out, “Look, that is Prof. Chaki who refused to teach your module,” and then started laughing. From that day on, whenever he saw me, he would greet me with, “Mzima mwanafunzi wangu?” It is really a great loss. May his soul rest in peace. 🙏🏾🕊️…

Prosper, I was with you just over a week ago and just this last week we chatted on phone. I didn’t know that you were slipping from us. It didn’t occur to me that it would be our last. You were a senior colleague who became a brother. I was truly priviledged to share in your life. I learnt a lot about working with and leading people from you. I will cherish the lessons eternally. I will dearly miss you, Prosper. May those whom you loved and loved you most, your immediate family, be comforted through this devastating loss. Shine on on your way, Prosper!…
