Was so sad to hear the news about Gus and my thoughts are with you all. I remember leaving the simulator once and he was excited to be  heading  home to build, I think, a Little Princess bed. My kids must have been the same age at the time and he was the picture of a happy Dad. I didn’t know Gus on the Jaguar, but had heard of him by dint of his awesome reputation through mutual friends. I think he even kindly gave me a reference to join Virgin! He was an absolute saviour to me as I came blinking from the Airbus into the world of the 747, and even more of a legend as he helped me along the path into training. I enjoyed mid-Atlantic conspiracy chats on the true nature of the Earth’s flatness and how it could be proved through flight times to Perth! He was somebody who always made you believe that you were totally equipped for whatever challenge it was that awaited you, be it a TRI course or a 40kt crosswind. In short an absolute gentleman and a complete privilege to have known him.
