Sarah Davey-Hull

I loved working with Sarah. She was so energetic and imaginative and being part of the Bold and Saucy company for four summers, felt like being part of a lovely creative and very bouncy family. Many of those became great friends. Those summers were magical, rehearsing one show, then performing another in the evening then heading off to the college bar or into Oxford for restorative beers and dancing. I remember the company picnics, the relentless leafleting in costume, the furious costume changes ( leaving my Maria hat on when arresting Antonio and seeing her face fall), running into the squash courts to finish the show when it rained and lots and lots of mucking about which led to some truly funny scenes.

Sarah had a huge influence on me as a young woman in my 20s, both creatively and personally. When l think of her l cannot help but smile, seeing her lovely beaming humorous face in the Wadham Garden sunlight.

The line l always remember, which was from the Winter’s Tale….which always made us laugh and which l think sums up the spirit of our Bold and Saucy days was

“Exit left, pursued by a bear”. I think l got chased off stage as the 26 year old little boy by another cast member…

I will remember you always Sarah.
