I love the quiet ones. The unassuming. Those who go about their daily business without shouting from the rooftops. Without seeking recognition or reward. They give more than they take. And whilst committed, hard-working, and eager to learn, they somehow manage to find (or rather, create) the time to share their wisdom with others. To help them thrive. Generosity to the fore. When these qualities fuse with a healthy dose of intellect, wit, charm and genuine interest in the wellbeing of others, you’re left with a very rare breed. And that was Amer. A total one-off. The heartbeat of our UK CX client practice. The central cog that allowed so many things to prosper – from client relationships and programme quality to tech partnerships and a truly inclusive culture. Amer was a gem. Authentic, selfless. Superlatives too many to list. I loved his LinkedIn post last year. A rare moment of self-reflection. It read “I was looking at my workday profile and accidentally realized today’s the day: Kantar: Length of Service: 30 year(s), 0 month(s), 0 day(s). The best thing about working at Kantar is definitely the people. Followed by culture, amazing talent, clients, partners, dedication to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and finally senior leadership (I am committed to another 30 years – LOL). I fell into Market Research and Insights 30 years ago – it was the best trip I ever made”. I was blessed to work with Amer for part of his trip. I’ll miss him loads. One of life’s good guys.
