Nashy was the very best of us. I worked with Phil for 18 years, and I can’t recall anyone speaking a bad word about him during that time. I found common ground with Phil around tennis. He was obviously a good player, but too humble to ever admit it. We would often talk about our games, and Phil was always encouraging and positive, offering little bits of advice.
Phil was someone I will remember as kind, interesting, knowledgeable, but most importantly, fun! He was quiet in the office most of the time, working diligently, but when he did interact with the team around him, he had a great ability to build connections and make people smile, or on occasions, roar with laughter! He naturally put people at ease with his approachable and patient style, and made friends easily at work.
I am so sorry his poor family is having to go through what must be a horrifying experience, but I hope they can take strength from how much people loved Phil. Rest in peace, mate. Let’s get that game of tennis when we meet again.
