Colin McCrory

Jack & Victor

Mr McCrory…..

That first meeting in Uddingston — you and Ian Wearing walking into the room together… and that one line from you, Colin: “aye, we come as a pair,” quickly reinforced by Ian 😄

From that moment on, I realised I had a pair of you — and a ballbag of an Englishman — who, like yourselves, knew Still Game word for word. In my head, you were instantly Jack & Victor from that day… and as Isa will testify, those names were already yours long before I even joined Data Services!

Every Teams call and phone conversation became a race to see who could get the first insult in. If I beat you to it, your standard reply was, “that’s nice.”

Then there were the quarterly reviews… “Colin, it’s due in…” — I’d write up a few kind sentences about you being the wee chancer you were, hit submit, and every time I’d get that email back from you: “that’s smashing.”

And through all the comedy, you were still the first to submit the weekly report and your timesheets. As Ian once said on a team call, “oooh Colin, is that a wee apple for your manager?” Your face — horrified at being exposed as someone who actually gave a hoot — said it all 😄

No more wrapping up my team calls in 28 seconds while I’m on leave either, ya chancer!

Now that the laughter quietens, and with your sudden departure, I just want to say how grateful I am for the advice, mentoring, and support you gave me during our time working together.

I’ll miss you lots, pal.

Have one at the Clansman for me, thats plenty!
