I met Joe when I joined the London Civils Team as a newly graduated engineer in 2001, and he has remained one of the few constants and biggest influences throughout my career. Reassuringly matter-of-fact in his approach, calm under pressure and with an unrivalled technical knowledge, every challenge was met with the same pragmatic, professional and positive approach. From my early days of working with Joe on Canary Wharf, to our final project together that was so cruelly interrupted by his sudden diagnosis, I feel privileged to have worked alongside him, to have learnt from him, laughed with him, and shared the odd drink with him.
