I only met Ian on a couple of occasions, both in the happy surrounds of the Turnberry links. He very kindly hosted Kenny, myself, and a couple of other lads for a round on the Ailsa. The experience on both occasions was an absolute pleasure, Ian the perfect host, generously sharing nuggets of local knowledge to enhance our experience and aid our score. Despite the pearls of golfing wisdom shared, Ian had plenty more golfing ability and nouse than his younger playing partners, triumphing on both occasions with the lighthouse, as opposed to clubhouse, in closer view! Despite the golfing outcome, a couple of really memorable days. 

As manager of Crouchy’s Hotshots, Hayr United were always the barometer, finish above Hayr (or even a couple of spots behind) and the season would have been a resounding success. Nigh on impossible to achieve, Hayr United were like 1990s Man United! 

Hugely sad loss and I hope in time you all find comfort in the fantastic memories that I am sure survive Ian’s passing.
