Jill Kay

Dearest Jill,

When people say there are ‘no words’, I felt that for a very long time, which is why I’m only now able to bring myself to write this. You were and always will be an incredible lady.

I am inundated with memories of our fabulous time working, laughing and drinking together. You really were a true inspiration to me, and one of the reasons I came to work every morning. Whether it be hurtling up to Manchester on the train with a bottle of red wine and our two laptops out like a pair of nutters, or literally dragging you to Victoria station after an evening in the pub so you would make your long commute home, we really did have a laugh.

Which was better? ‘Green teas’ in the office, or regular tea but it had to come in a mug with a ‘thin rim’. You really were a funny old stick. You were also truly gifted at your work, mentoring, supporting and training me in all manner of ways, something which I hope to take forward in my life.

I’m so proud of how brave you were towards the end. Our group chat with Sandra still saw some laughs, jokes and shenanigans even when you became very poorly. And a final Christmas message to both of us is something I will never forget.

I promise to make the trip to visit Dexter and give him a cuddle from you. Love from your work son,

Rohan
