Kenny McDade

Where to begin pal…

You were far more than a colleague to so many of us. Always looking out for your people, having our backs, and finding the time to check in, offer advice, peer review a piece of work, or just bring a bit of positivity to the day.

Your generosity knew no bounds, whether it was treating us all to a fish supper or randomly transferring £50 when the lads were out for a drink with instructions “the next ones are on me”. Always thinking about everyone else and never expecting anything in return.

I’ll miss sending you pictures of my scran, only for you to declare it “muck” and award it at best a 5.2.

And of course, your infamous jockney rhyming slang. I’ll never hear the words “mushy peas” again without hearing “On yir knees”.

Behind all the laughs was someone I had enormous respect for. You worked incredibly hard, built genuine relationships wherever you went, and cared deeply about the people around you. You wanted the very best for the test team and were always willing to give your time and experience to help someone else, even when you had more than enough on your plate.

You were our mentor, our supporter and in many ways, the father figure of the team. But to me, you’ll always be Uncle Kenny.

The test team, and our lives, are less bright without you.

Rest easy Uncle Kenny.

(And for what it’s worth pal, I still reckon some of those dinners deserved at least a 6.4.)
