Even in the short time I knew Michaela, we formed a special bond. I met her last September in London and we had dinner at a fantastic restaurant she had suggested. She recently informed me of her decision to quit AIIB and we talked for a long time on December 8, 2022 on what we could do together to push forward the gender agenda, even though she was retiring from AIIB and I was retiring from the IMF. I was struck by her dedication and passion, and her desire to live and contribute to the cause. We will sorely miss her but she will continue to inspire us. My deepest condolensces to her family and friends.
