Harald Ã…strand
We are all so deeply saddened by the death of Harald, such a special friend. I first met Harald at YAGS at EBCG around 25 years ago. What an amazing group of young people, all away from home looking for community, friendship and fellowship. And that was exactly what we found. Harald was such a key part of that group, always up for whatever activity was planned. I have so many wonderful memories of dinners, hikes, ski trips, BBQs at Chambesy, movie nights. Harald was warm, welcoming, supportive, caring and enthusiastic at all times. It is rare to met someone with such a positive and sunny personality. He had such a love of life. All my memories (and my photos) show Harald with the biggest smile, often laughing or even dancing! I was very privileged to be invited to go to Jordan for a week’s holiday with Harald, Fred and Priska. What an amazing, fun week that was. Priska and I flew back to Geneva, whilst Harald and Fred went on to Syria, always looking for adventure! I have such special memories of that time.
I still find it hard to grasp that Harald is no longer with us but I am grateful to God for the comfort of knowing that this is only the beginning and that God, redeeming all things, will reunite us in a much better place. To dear Harald’s family, I am so blessed to have known Harald and to have counted him as a friend. He was such a special, gentle person. I pray that you can take some comfort from knowing how many lives he touched.
