Ian Bryan Rorison
Ian the Gentleman
I was privileged to be a colleague of Ian’s in our Brooke Bond Oxo days. Although I was based in Lancashire and Cheshire, we really first got to know each other at the Company’s Annual Sponsored Golf Day at the Coombe Wood Golf Club in Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey.
All golfing employees were invited, and the car born Sales Staff would drive their colleagues from factories and offices around the country, to play and stay in Richmond, in one of the very nice hotels. Friendships would be re-visited and exaggerated stories re-told. Although the best golfer in the whole of the Company, Ian would play with all his colleagues without an ounce of superiority or arrogance.
Over the years I was lucky to play with Ian at Turnberry (What a Dream) and met Christine and Family, when it was so obvious that their love for each other and the family they were raising was a sight to behold. I never heard Ian say a bad word about anybody, neither did I ever hear a bad word said about him.
Both Jen my wife and I were so saddened to get the news from Christine of Ian’s passing but know that they will have beautiful memories of a true Gentleman, Father, and Husband to cherish.
