Marion Milne

I had the pleasure of working with Marion for over 12 years. She was more than a colleague, she was my friend. I used to enjoy our chats, especially on a Friday, when after a busy week we would have lunch together in the school office. I retired last August but we still kept in touch and met in the Corner Cafe where we exchanged our news. I will miss those lunches and chats. She always had a little gift to hand over, whether it was for myself or my grandchildren, when she returned from holiday or a weekend away. She was very thoughtful.

Marion always put others before herself and she worked tirelessly for the Nether Currie Community. She went above and beyond her role as School Administrator. She built up a great rapport with the children who visited the office, whether for medical attention or just a bit of TLC. She treated them as if they were her own. She also had time for the many visitors who came into the office throughout the day, despite having numerous tasks to do. She provided great support to the staff, Parent Council, PTA and parents. Her commitment played a huge part in helping the school run efficiently.

She was a well known face in Currie and Balerno and she was very keen to support businesses in the area. They in turn supported the school. She just knew who to contact for various projects and fundraisers. She used her wealth of local knowledge to benefit the school.

Her sudden death came as a huge shock to us all and her passing will leave a huge void. Not only has the school lost a great colleague, we have all lost a kind, caring and compassionate lady, as well as a good friend.

I was so pleased I had met Marion and Kirsten for coffee the week before she died. My last memory of her was getting a big hug as we left the Marriott hotel and this is a lovely memory to have. Thank you Marion for your friendship over the years xx
