My happiest memory of David was working alongside him at the Final Year Student Seminars at Lancaster University where, for a few years, David contributed to the lecture stream. His talks to the attending veterinary students entering their final years at the various veterinary colleges across the UK were inspirational. Raising awareness of some of the mental wellbeing issues in our profession whilst encouraging coping strategies and support among the future vets in the room was well ahead of his time in recognising the difficulties that veterinary surgeons come across in their working life. Through his work, encouragement and support for others the issues around mental wellbeing and its impact on the veterinary profession have become something that can be more openly discussed. We have seen more research projects that have helped or will help with a better understanding of WHY…and a HOW we make this better. Thank you David for your ground breaking work and all that you did for us. You are a star.
