I’m deeply saddened by the loss of Simon. He was a colleague of mine for over 15 years, and throughout that time he always managed to impress me. Whether it was his creative skills, his ability to solve problems with unique solutions, or his straight-forward logical thinking. His eccentricity, his gothic charm, and his wonderfully offbeat sense of humour made every interaction with him a joy.  He was different, but different in all the best ways – quirky, fun, and always unapologetically himself.

Beyond his personality, Simon was an incredible developer, always pushing the boundaries of what was possible. From constantly mastering new skills, he had a rare ability to turn ideas into reality, and I was always in awe of his talent. In the past few months I’ve had the privledge of working closely with Simon building a new software app, and I’ve got to see his brilliance again at its best.  Every conversation with him was an education and an eye-opener, he would always have something new or exciting to share!

A typical day with Simon was drawing something on a piece of paper, letting Simon do the hard work to turn that drawing into a working software solution, and then heading to the pub for an animated and passionate discussion on AI, Elves and World Domination!  Those are the times I will miss the most, but they will also be the memories I am grateful for. 

Rest in peace my friend. You were truly one of a kind.
