Aussie du Plooy

Aussie cricket

Still can’t quite get my head around the news. Knowing I’ll never see Aussie’s smiling face again is a hard pill to swollow. He was an amazing man, with so much passion, enthusiasm and drive in everything that he did. He had a wonderful aura where he walked into the room and lit it up instantly. When he joined the AA I remember being told a fellow saffa would be joining the team and I knew instantly we’d get along, and of course he did not disappoint. We spoke often about South Africa, reminiscing about places we’d both visited back home and he spoke about his family often. He was so extremely proud of the girls, and the way he radiated when he spoke about them was priceless. There’s so many great memories of Aussie, but one of my favourite was the cricket match against Zensar. He enjoyed himself so much, the whole team did but he really brought the guys together as a team with his friendly demeanour. I was there cheering them on that night, it’s an evening I won’t forget. He will be sorely missed.
