Bernard Crump, Emeritus Professor of Practice in Healthcare and Leadership

Bernard brought such light and hope to so many in health care. In the many years that I knew Bernard, he was a learner, a teacher, an innovator and a dear friend. He led in so many ways as a Chief Executive, a natural and effective leader in times of great change. His daily work demonstrated his IQ, EQ and CQ. He was a constant learner and as ambitious a student as he was a teacher. His EQ, empathy and emotional quotient, was so important to him. He innovated and designed with the patients, their families, and all staff in mind. He was a leader in redesigning care processes for best access, flow and support as patients made their way through the complexities of the health care system. His CQ, curiosity quotient, inspired me and so many. He sought new ways to learn always and visited places inside of health care and in other industries worldwide to take ideas and solutions for all. I smile thinking about the many days we have spent thinking about a healthier future for all, and sharing ideas for change. His focus on population health and health care systems was way ahead of the field and was another way that he lead change in so many places and countries.I have so many wonderful memories of time with Bernard and Isabel. Even as I share my tears at this loss, I have so many great moments that will bring joy and smiles when the tears are past. I send love to Isabel and the family.
