Evelyn McDonald
I got to know Evie during my time as Head of School and member of the COSE Management Group. I would often arrive early for our CMG meetings and would look forward to a wee chat with Evie about how things were going as she was setting things up for the meeting. Similarly, it was always a pleasure to spend a few minutes chatting with Evie and the other COSE Office Staff before my regular one-to-one meetings with Muffy. Evie was always keen to hear how my daughter Catriona was doing, as she made her way through school and the life of a teenager, and it was always lovely to hear how Evie’s daughter Jennifer was doing too. When I stepped down as Head of School I missed my regular contact with many friends and colleagues in the College – not least with Evie, who was always such a friendly and welcoming member of the team. I was so saddened to hear the news of Evie’s passing: it came as such a shock, and made me sorry that I hadn’t managed to keep in better touch with Evie over the past few years. My heart goes out to her family: I can’t begin to imagine the loss they must be feeling at this sad time.
