Ewan was a talented engineer, a wise manager and a very good friend to all who worked with him.  I remember one evening he saw me glancing out of the window trying to guess when the torrential rain would slow down for my bike ride home. Without hesitation he immediately offered to go out of his way to drop me off at my door and save me a soaking. Ewan was always thinking how to get the best from everyone at the same time as giving his best too. He is very much missed.
