I find words hard to find for moments like this. 

I have sadly lost a dear friend. Simon was my friend, my colleague, and my mentor in our shared world of bycatch. More to, science has lost an outstanding brain. You would never say so but we in your bycatch family have a huge gab to fill without you around any longer. I have always felt safe with you at the rudder, and I trusted your view more than anything. Thanks for all the kind words and support you have given me all along. I will never forget. 

I will truly miss you.
