Dear Scott and Arthur,

Our neighbours from far away. I remember very well the first time I met Noëmi, we just bought the apartment next to yours in Schaerbeek. She was her usual self, enthousiast, open and warm-harted. We had ex-colleagues in common and Noëmi already sensed we would become colleagues again in the future, which didn’t take long. We only lived together as neighbours for real during the summer of 2014, when Marcus was born. You invited us to crash your party on our own wedding day. It is all surreal now, to think she’s gone. 

Iedereen die Noëmi zelfs maar één keer heeft ontmoet, zal zich herinneren dat ze de gave had om lichtheid te brengen als ze ergens kwam. Ze was een sprankelende open geest, zonder onnodige formaliteiten. Ze was ontwapenend en hartelijk. Dit maakt het extra moeilijk te beseffen dat ze er niet meer is.

You asked us, Scott, to think of the good times we had with her. And even if it’s painful, you are right asking us this. It’s what Noëmi deserves and it’s how Arthur will learn to remember her.
