Hamish had such a friendly, engaged and intelligent approach to his work.  He was a pleasure to bump into, always with a smile for everyone and always so willing to help me with my unexpected tussles/adventures with a printer/scanner(!). I enjoyed talking with him about libraries and thought he would be a credit to our profession. I know we would all have liked to have known him for longer.
