Like everyone else I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news about Ian.  We worked together for several years in Highlands and Islands Enterprise, before he moved on to SWT and PfA.  He was a great colleague. He shared with us, to our benefit, his wide knowledge of the natural world. His work with communities was informed and performed with helpful patience. I never saw him angry or exasperated. He was a great team player, a leader and in all senses, a gentle man. His legacy is extensive across Scotland, and he is a great loss. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
