Gus was one of life’s true characters.  Larger than life in all ways, what you saw is what you got. He used this amazing, no frills characteristic to great effect when teaching, whether it was ab initio students or experienced Captains and trainers.  Working alongside him was always a pleasure and invariably absolutely hilarious.  His dry sense of humour and his frequent impressions of fellow office colleagues made those long office meeting fly by. A dedicated and exceptionally talented aviator both in the RAF and later at Virgin, Gus will be missed by all who kbnew him.
