Roger Kennedy

I first met Roger in 1960 when I was a student at Moorlands College and he came to speak about the MSS literature ministry in New Delhi.  It was at that time the Lord called me to India where I was not only a colleague but very much part of Roger and June’s family and shared their home for a number of years.  Roger and I had many adventures together in North India including a book tour through U.P. and Bihar and later further afield with literature workshops in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.  Other journeys included driving work vehicles from the Nilgiris, Bihar and Lucknow to New Delhi.  At these times and in the regular work in New Delhi and at Bethany Assembly Roger was a great leader and always an encourager.  He had the respect and trust of our Indian colleagues.  He was a treasured friend and one I could trust and rely on.  Sharing Roger and June’s home and family times were a great blessing to me.  We had many fun times and laughs together, too numerous to share here!  They had just left India when Brenda came to visit and we got engaged but it was they who met her at Heathrow on her return home and were there as we later left to return to New Delhi after our marriage.  Since then we have shared so many happy family times together in London, here in Christchurch and in Keswick/Carlisle.  They introduced us to the prayer ministry team at the Convention when they led this ministry and we have been blessed by those annual visits to the Lakes ever since.  Roger was a gracious, humble follower of the Lord Jesus, my dear friend and brother in Christ.  Well done good and faithful servant.
