John’s fearlessness and courage were an inspiration to me personally, both in dealing with people at all levels and in the way he dealt with his cancer diagnosis. It was a priviledge to work with him and to witness that courage in action. He was robust in dealing with difficult situations where for example a contractor had not done the work they said they would do, but was approachable and encouraging to those in early careers. He did a lot of good and is greatly missed.
