Mandy and I were in the same year at Withington and although we were not close friends I knew her well enough to remember quite clearly her warm, vivacious personality and brilliant smile. I admired Mandy’s formidable intellect, sharp wit and forthright nature. We did not keep in touch after we left school but I was very fortunate to reconnect with Mandy last year through our mutual friend Sue Green. Those admirable and lovable qualities I remembered were still very much in evidence. After our meeting last year I sent Mandy a photo of myself out hiking with another school friend and the response was “nothing mimsy about WGS gels”! And there was certainly nothing mimsy about Mandy. Dear Mark and family, I hope that your memories and those of so many people whose lives Mandy touched, will give you comfort now and in the future.
