Chukwudi Martin Ogbueche

Each of our communication both over the phone and face-to-face always started with calling each other ‘brother’. You were literally my brother, friend and closest ally. I knew you as someone who always wished the best for others, someone who sincerely loved others and would go out of his way to help others even when it’s not convenient. You were a visionary, a goal-getter, a solutionist, and a resolute being who gave his best to everything he did. Even while busy with your PhD, you created time to support other people. You were also passionate about contributing to knowledge, which led you to starting a research group you named ‘Research Street’ with a vision of it becoming a knowledge hub targeted at addressing pressing global health issues. You were a shining light and a rare gem! Brother, your passing has left me stunned and heartbroken. It is very difficult to accept that we would not speak over the phone again for hours, strategize together on how to overcome life’s challenges, and have a good laugh about our individual encounters with life. It’s really heartbreaking to see the pictures of all the moments we shared, and reflect on all the plans we had together. You really made your mark in the sands of time and the people you touched with your kindness (including me) will always remember you. I am convinced that you will rise and never to die again, and that we shall meet again to part no more. Jee nke oma, ezigbo nwanne m.
