What a man we have lost. Kind but firm, seeringly intelligent but never condescending, loyal, supportive and one of the straightest bats I’ve ever had the privilege to know. It’s not that we spoke often the last few years, but  I knew he was always there if I needed to call upon his wisdom and support. Indeed, it was that which made me contact him in early August and true to the man his concern was for me rather than his personal travails. I shall miss him sorely.
