Colin McCrory

I only had the privilege to know Colin for about 5 years, but his memory will last the rest of my days. For those of us “slightly” younger than him, it’s like losing a father figure. Someone you could call in a crisis or just for a bit of advice. Someone who seemed to have a tool, machine, or part for just about everything and insisted on giving you it but also someone who would give you that grin of his and you’d know he was up to something. I can’t remember a time when I’ve been in the same comm’s room as him and there’s not been laughter regardless of how much pressure everyone was under.

Not long after starting, Colin was described to me as “aye he’s the guy Cisco ask if they’ve a question, so if you’ve a question you can try Googling it or ask Colin, but I know which one I’d believe”.

It’s hard to find anyone that is universally liked, until you met Colin. I think it’s safe to say the depth of respect and affection people in the industry had for Colin was immense. The number of times I’ve either said or heard the phrase “We could just….ach ya wee dick” is in the double figures already.

Mate, I don’t know anyone else who rightly deserves the title of Legend, but you do.
