Hazel

I have known Hazel for a number of years and always found her a breath of fresh air. She looked so petitie and quiet but when she wanted to say something she said it, straight and to the point, no frills or ornamentation.

She always had wild hair, a dry sharp wit and a twinkle of complete mischief in her eye. I can recall many times having a blether with her and grumbling over the state of things and putting the world to rights. Sometimes she would mutter under her breath and I couldn’t quite make out what she had said- the tone in which it was said though always left me with little doubt.

What I liked and respected about her most is that she took people for who they were, she wasn’t bothered by good looks or glamour or education, she could sniff out a bull shitter a mile away and saw people for who, not what they are.

Hazel was a really good doctor and I always enjoyed working with her, but more important than that was that she was a truly good human being, they are harder to find these days, but she was one, full of heart.

Hazel, I am glad you are at peace now, rest easy Debbie X
