Jim was simply a wonderful person. I can’t think of a better person with whom to combine hard work first and then a fun few pints afterwards. He was fantastic at seeing through some of the rubbish our profession and industry cloaks itself in at times, and just getting on with the key job of getting good outcomes for customers. In 30 years of working with him in various guises he was still always Jim. He also always asked after my family, even though he last met my wife nearly 25 years ago and never met my son. This was typical of his taking an interest in people, not just considering them as “human resource”, “competitors” or “service providers” – but as first and foremost fellow human beings. I miss him terribly. But I am sure my sorrow is not as deep as it is for those who were fortunate to be able to spend more time with him than I was. My thoughts are with you all.
