James McVeigh

Ní féidir liom friotal a chur ar a ndearna tú dúinn, idir óg agus aosta, mar dhaoine, mar chairde, mar chlub, mar phobal. Chuir tú síolta a thiocfaidh i mbláth, d’adhain tú tine ionainn a bheidh ar dearglasadh go buan, thug tú chun fíre aislingí na ndaoine thart ort.

‘Níl cara ag cumha ach cuimhní’ a deirtear, agus tá sin againn cuimhní móra maithe – do chairdeas, aoibh mhór do gháire, do chruthaitheacht, croí na féile a bhí ionat. Ní thuigfidh tú go deo an chomaoin a chuir tú orainn agus an oiread a rinne tú ar ár son, ach nach orainne a bhí an t-ádh go raibh aithne againn ort agus is fearrde sinn do chairdeas. Gael go smior agus ceann feadhna par excellence.

There are no words to describe what you have done for us, both young and old – as people, as friends, as a club and community. You sowed seeds that will bloom bright, you lit a fire that will burn forever, you helped those around you achieve and realise their dreams and ambitions.

‘Memory is grief’s only friend’ says the Irish proverb and that is one thing we do have, such wonderful memories of you. The friendship, that huge smile and laugh of yours, your creativity and how you’d help anyone and everyone without a second’s hesitation. You’ve done more for us all than you’ll ever ever imagine and we’re just so lucky and grateful to have known you, we’re all the better for it. A true and proud Gael and a leader par excellence.

Leaba i measc na nGael go raibh agat.
