I retired from RSSB just over 10 years ago, but David Knights kindly told me of Martin’s accident.   Working for David in the Energy team, I had frequent interaction with Martin and Rolling Stock colleagues.   Martin was a good engineer with an attention to detail, but made working so much easier and enjoyable with his attitude and manner. It quickly became apparent we had a common interest in bike racing – Martin at a relively high level in Track and Road racing, while I was a timetriallist of relatively limited ability!   As others have observed, Martin was very keen on the bike!
