David MacDougall
I’m still in total shock….
I first met Dave around 10 years ago, and sitting next to him in our wee Real Estate team at Sedgwick for about 2 years.
I knew very little, and I knew no-one at the time, but Dave took the time to show me the ropes, and (in is inimitable style) told me what to do, how to do it, and gave me the lowdown on who I could approach in the office – and also (much more importantly) who to avoid.
Dave also worked at an incredible speed, putting everyone else to shame. He also had the neatest desk and stationery arrangement I’ve ever seen, before or since – everything in perfect order and alignment, whilst the rest of us had desks resembling a bomb site.
Back in those days we worked very hard, and Dave worked hard, but he also played hard. Going out for “just a couple” was never in Dave’s vocabulary, and he was always the life and soul of wherever we went. He possessed this uncanny knack of keeping the party going – including an unforgettable evening we had at Shawfield dog track – not the most salubrious of venues!
Many years later I had the great pleasure of seeing Dave again on his regular visits here (in Zurich); he hadn’t changed a bit, and I (and his new-found acquaintances here) always looked forward to seeing him. Sorely missed, never forgotten.
