Mat and I first met when we were fresh faced trainee solicitors both joining Harrison Clark in September 2001. He has always been “there” and was a support over the years as our lives and careers progressed. As has been said, Mat was always the life and soul of a social occasion and such a fun person to be around. In particular I have fond memories of the 3 Peaks Challenge that as part of an HCR team effort, we both completed in 2019. He was the ideal team mate – providing encouragement to us all as well as entertainment and conversation along the way. As the picture will also testify, in true Mat style he made it to the top of Ben Nevis in his kilt! The news of Mat’s passing came as a tremendous shock and he will be deeply missed. My thoughts are with Mat’s family and friends at this sad time and I hope that in time these messages and shared memories will be of comfort to you. He was a special man.
