Helen Harlow

Helen was a truly lovely person inside and out, gone too soon, she always greeted everyone with a smile.

Helen gave so much time to the young people and adults including our 3 Boys who all enjoyed the endless camps, activities, being well fed, and not forgetting the jelly babies on the hikes.

With Helen’s selfless nature and patience I knew I had nothing to worry about while the Boys were away.

The happy memories go back long and far, in fact over 20+ years to the day when we both joined the 4th Milton Executive Committee, from then on there was no stopping Helen on her Scouting adventure.

At times I called her mad camping beneath the stars in minus degree temperatures and going on muddy winter camps at Gilwell, she agreed but it never stopped her. As the years went by there were always more and more activities and adventures being meticulously planned, with five star catering to match.

It was not unusual to bump into each other when out and about, on the long path to Bredgar Helen would often appear out of the distance with that beaming friendly smile. We would then have a catchup chat; she was always proud to talk about her family and  “Grandparent Duties”.

Over the years Helen has enthusiastically led from the front, never wanting fuss, remaining positive and happily getting on with the job, in the process she has inspired many adults and youngsters alike.
