I worked at LEAP alongside Laura from 2016 to 2022. She was such an inspiring leader who was strong but humble, with a great heart. I remember my first induction meeting with her when I started at LEAP – she was such a good listener and I felt able to open up about myself, I felt that she cared. She was very generous in supporting and developing other people. Similarly with the Parent Rep volunteers who I supported, she understood how people could feel intimidated in situations like presenting to partnership boards and always supported the volunteers to feel at ease and among equals. I saw her last at a party to celebrate the achievements of LEAP’s 10 year programme, last September. She was as vibrant and fun-loving as ever. It’s a great loss that she was taken by illness so suddenly, on the brink of her retirement. She’ll be greatly missed by all who knew her, and I’m sending my deepest condolences to her family.
