Emma Burns
I was so sad to hear that Emma was no longer with us and I have so many memories I could share with her beautiful girls.
Emma and I joined the RBS Insurance team at the same time. We turned up at a lovely country house hotel on the outskirts of Leeds for an HR Leadership offsite and quickly established a connection as the two new girls. We had much fun chatting and giggling about what ‘the elephant in the room’ might be that kept getting mentioned. I’m still not sure we learned what that elephant was all about. Later in the evening after a few drinks, we joined in with another great friend, Lesley Vass, who started a sign song of old English favourites including – Roll out the Barrell.
That was the start of a lot of great memories. Among which was a very embarrassing one for me when I managed to be sick on Emma whilst she was complaining to me about issues with payroll. She was so kind and understanding but we did laugh about that incident many times.
One fab memory I have is of a time before you girls were born which Emma, Grant and my hubby David and I had a great time together at a big party again thrown again by our friend Lesley at her home in Essex. After much fizz was consumed, Emma dared Grant to eat jellied eels which he did then promptly spat them back out! We had very sore heads the next day but it was worth it.
Emma was a big personality who was very kind and I am so glad that I had the chance and privilege to know her girls.
