Michael Peter Levick Fogden

Mike

We first met Mike & Tricia in Monteverde in 1981. David and I were making our rainforest film and had come to the cloud forest to shoot golden toads and the Quetzal. Mike probably showed us where we could film the Quetzal. We had heard of one another through mutual acquaintances so it was just a matter of time before we finally met and chimed and became lifelong friends. We had much in common- a mutual lifetime involvement with wildlife whether writing or photographing or filming Though Mike and Tricia had a home in Monteverde they also had a tiny flat just off Oxford Street in London. It was an unlikely address for them. I remember we slept on the floor during a brief stay in the UK. Later they visited us in South Africa in the private nature reserve bordering Kruger National Park where we were building our house – they bought a plot next to us on the river but later changed their minds. Wherever they lived : Monteverde, Ecuador , Cley – they produced many lovely books and pictures. Grand times over the years we all had together. I visited them in Cley less than a year ago – little did I know….Tricia, I send you deepest condolences and my love always.
