Stefanos Zymis
I’d like to give my deepest condolences to family and friends of Stefanos and Maria. Having only seen Maria once in the arms of Stefanos on a video call, my lens of her was through my colleague, mentor and friend Stefanos who could not say more positive things about Maria and his family. Stefanos was the person who offered me the job at Savills, introduced me to the team and taught me about this working world. He was a man who I use as a mentor figure in all aspects of life: with a family that he cherished and could not stop gushing over, a successful career and a personality that was instantly liked by everyone he came into contact with, I can only aspire to meet that. I know I will continue to think about ‘what would Stefanos do’ when I encounter struggles in my future life, his way of dealing with problems and challenges was inspiring to me. I remember vividly when I made him stay late in the office to meet a deadline because I messed up a project. He didn’t even see it as a problem, instead he came in, took accountability (even though it was my fault), solved the problems and then took the time to teach me how to prevent this in the future. This is just one example of thousands where he had time for everyone and encountered all aspects of like with a smile on his face, deciding to see the light in the world rather than the dark. One of my favourite memories with Stefanos was when he told me about how he got stuck in the revolving doors as you enter the Savills building, and had to get a security guard to help him out. He could both laugh at himself, but also use it as a lesson for me – make sure to set the sensor off first! To this day, when I enter and leave the building I think of him and make sure to set off the sensor so I don’t get stuck myself! I’m incredibly grateful to have met Stefanos and I know that he will continue to leave an incredible impact on me, his family and anyone he came into contact with.
