I would like to pass on my deepest sympathies and condolences to Jennifer’s family and the staff at Ulster Wildlife. I volunteered on the board of Ulster Wildlife for ten years and worked alongside Jennifer for most of that period. As a newly qualified lawyer I was the youngest on the board for most of that time and it was my first experience of volunteering in such a capacity. Jennifer was brilliant at encouraging me to find a voice at meetings and to have confidence in my abilities. She consistently reminded me of how grateful she, and the board, were for my presence at meetings which gave me a strong sense of value and belonging within the organisation. She continually provided opportunities for me to develop and ultimately I have Jennifer to thank for now having a career in the environmental sector, for which I am thoroughly grateful. Jennifer cared equally for people and the planet and the sense of loss in the wider environmental sector is a testament to her character.
