Helen was an amazing character who you wouldn’t forget once you had met her. She had such depth of knowledge across much of the Defra portfolio as well as internationally recognised expertise. She was also a warm, cheerful and well-liked person. Helen used her excellent risk assessment skills to advise on many animal pests and diseases that have high impact. Despite the serious nature of such situations, she always kept calm and brought a sense of humour. She will be much missed.
