Kamola Makhmudova

I tried but couldn’t remember how and when I met Kamola for the first time. Seems like I knew her forever, certainly for 20+ years. Lots of birthdays and parties together, dinners at my place and hers. My hen weekend in Biarritz – surfing lessons, clubbing till early hours of the morning and a wedding shortly thereafter where she was one of my bridesmaids. She was the one who remembered the stories my dad told during his speech at the wedding, long after he was gone, it was so thoughtful of her keeping those memories alive. These moments would stay with me forever.
Kamola had an amazing gift to bring people together into her many projects. What she couldn’t do herself, she made others do :)) During Covid times she called me up, knowing very well that I like crafts and everything handmade and asked me to moderate an online session on Uzbek embroidery: suzanis. Of course I said yes and had fun working with an Uzbek professor preparing her lecture. My small contribution into Kamola’s many charity projects.
Still can’t believe Kamola is no longer with us: a bundle of joy, limitless energy and positive attitude, always ready to help and lift my spirits. She has packed so much into her life that it’s not possible to believe that one person can achieve so much in such a short space of time. Rest in peace. Imandy bol
