Neil King

There have been so many beautiful tributes coming in for our beautiful sailor friend Neil ‘Kings Global adventures’ Heartbreakingly he is no longer with us, our ‘do anything for anyone’ Guy, our ‘zero to hero’ guy with yacht master, offshore first aid everything, within such a short time.

He taught me to step outside of my comfort zone – I trained with him in gusts over 30 in my Laser having spectacularly capsized 6 times in a row on our River Exe with crazy strong tides and smiled and somehow laughed as the dinghy capsized itself off the trailer afterwards!

We laughed so hard when I tried trapezing for the first time and ended up looking like I was horse riding off the side. He said “just hop up on the side and I’ll power up” so many times we remembered that moment, I can still hear his laugh.

We raced together and found moments on the water to find that happy feeling that the wind and waves give you (Neil called it “wooh moments”), it could be hiking out on the edge at speed or catching the sunset as you look over your shoulder to check you’re going to make that mark. Those moments will forever be there to find.

My amazing capable friend that sailed a dinghy to the Arctic, you will be sorely missed x
