David Latief
I met David for the first time in 2022 before moving to EY. He was tasked with sharing his experiences of moving firms and not to scare me off. So, he started off with a question around my thoughts on a very specific provision of the tax avoidance legislation…mild panic set in on my side which followed with a quick smile from David and thankfully relief that he was only joking. What followed was a genuine conversation about career, progression and personal development. From this point onwards, I can only echo and support all the messages from everyone else. After meeting David, I was clear in my decision to move to EY, to be part of a community and team which included someone like him. Having worked with him since, watching him step into the Indirect Leader role, a role in which he was perfect for, he only reinforced the first impression he gave. David was amazing at his job, he was perfect with people, he was authentic, compassionate, reasoned and kind. He remembered everyone and built genuine connections with purpose. In the short time I knew David, he taught me things that I will never forget. He was a genuinely lovely human being. The loss of David is devastating and he leaves a gap that we cannot fill but we will all try our best to be more like him and to do him proud. We spend so much of our time at work and away from our personal lives, that I really hope these messages provide comfort to his family as to the real impact he had on us. We saw and experienced how much of an amazing person he was. He did you so very proud and I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences x
