Piyush Patel
The news of Piyush leaving us was shocking and at the same time has shaken so many of us to the core. I have been personally lucky to have worked with Piyush for a long duration. He was my direct line Manager in his stint in India and my Super Boss when I moved to UK. He has been one of the most inspiring, charming and hard-working individuals that I have ever worked with.
He had the warmest of hearts and kindest soul who would impatiently listen the any challenge and always work towards a solution. This solution driven approach adding value to the Bank, my own carrier and his overall management has been so productive to HSBC. He has been the most wonderful boss and a fantastic human being. He particularly shaped my professional life and also to a certain extent my own personal life sharing his life experiences over numerous drinks and team lunches. An ardent family man, always having a picture of his two young boys at his desk in India sharing anecdotes of them growing up. When I suffered a personal loss of Dad’s death, he was the first person to come for support and touched my heart. He was familiar with loss and his kind words comforted my own closure. Never realised this life lesson would be brought by him again so early.
Farewell Piyush, you have been a great Boss, mentor and friend with energy levels that are near impossible to match. I will shamelessly emulate and copy the lessons both professional and personal that I learnt from you.
My heartfelt condolences and thoughts go out to his family who are enduring a much bigger loss
